This project is about the creation of the catalog for exhibition Ideology of design that took place at Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina in Novi Sad. The publication was designed in 2 days together with Marko Brkić during "design performance" called Deadline in temporary pop-up design studio created in the exhibition space.
The structure of the book was following the structure and design of the exhibition setup and exhibition space. The soft cover was made out of the plastic banner - an outdoor advertisment of the exhibition that was hanging on the front fasade of the Museum. So each soft cover was unique piece of recycled add.
This performance was open for public, all visitors could talk to us while we were working on the design. The client (kuda.org) was comming at the end of the day to see the progress and do some necessary corrections.
Deadlines can be sometimes very inspiring and can bring new and original concepts. With this project we trieded to criticaly reflect the process of creation of exhibition catalogues in general - most of the times it needs to be done before even the events start. But we think making catalogues them during events can bring new perspectives and data and therefore it can lead to more creative and criticial concepts or outputs. We decided to exhibiting these processes of our work in an open studio to be able to communicate the need for interaction and open criticism with the client and the public.
