Why can’t we live in an ideal world? Why can’t we live in a world with an ideal public place? Why isn’t a public place taken more seriously? Why there isn’t somebody in my town with a more developed aesthetics sense responsible for the outcome rather than the magistrate who prefers deflection more than beauty? Why are there antique columns by the roads in a town that is the youngest one in the country? There are many more other issues I am resentful to in the area where I live. The “Why” questions have been lately popping up onto my mind. Why not doing it differently?
In this project it is my intention to point out the problems in a public place in the town where I live.I consider myself to be a person with developed aesthetic sense and therefore I am faced with different problems on daily basis. Yes, it is a common issue however we shouldn’t be lethargic to these problems mainly because public places influence our everyday life and its quality. Therefore, here comes the necessity to look for solutions especially when it is obvious they are not difficult at all. It is primarily about the ignorance, negligence and laziness most people refer to, which in the end leads them into being reckless to these problems. Ultimately, these problems become one of our ordinary matters.Although I consider my project to be a critical one, I do not wish to remain only with the criticism. My intention is to give my points of view and suggestions on how to make it more effective and at best help with the solutions which could be realistically done.
The main target of this project is to create a portal, which would become some kind of a tool to solving problems. The objective of the portal would be to give a space for people who could raise the awareness about problems in their community, to draw attention to deeper discussions and mainly to be able to find constructive solutions.
This could give a chance to professionals such as designers, architects etc. to interpret the problems providing the fact it is considered to be a serious problem. In the end they could come up with solutions. In practice, the problem would have a real place - the portal for opinions and suggestions. In other words, the problem would be marked physically with sticker which will have a portal address on it.
Each problem would have its own column with the possibility to write a short text and for those concerned it would give a chance for opinions and suggestions. A processed summary would be forwarded to town representatives. In case the problem will be solved the portal would mark it as resolved. Additionally, the system portal could easily work as the authorities' profile and their willingness to solve problems.
By creating the awareness among people and the realistic suggestions we could eliminate delaying taking actions and solving them. At least people would finally become more aware of the surroundings in their community.
