The idea of my project is continuation of twitter’s movement #depressionhasnoface about people who suddenly committed suicide. They looked «normal» & even happy and then they decided to leave this live when no-one was expecting this. In my work I was thinking about emotions & feelings people are hiding from each other, from their families, friends & society. Expression «Actually, you can» means that it’s ok to feel & express the whole spectre of emotions. We all get tired, we all can be scared, jealous etc.
I decided to make it as a stickers, which you can put whatever you want. I put these stickers mostly on mirrors because people often look at mirrors & see what is hidden from others and visible only for them. I also tried to find private spaces where people stay alone, such as toilets and some corners. They are small reminders that we all feel differently & sometimes we need some help & support. They won’t stop people from certain decisions but probably they will remind them & will calm them down.
It was hard to make a final decision about visual side. Intention was to lower the degree of the topic. To make this serious topic a little bit sillier, maybe a bit more stupid & maybe person who will be in the mood will read it & think «OK, I am taking it too serious and Actually, I can…»Solution was to create two different options, which you can see on photos. One is more neutral, stylized as a bit retro, just popular mainstream style, as the way to communicate with young design students. Second option is about try to work with opposite feelings, like expression - you can be sad in form of emoji or smile.
After some feedback from students, second option works better, because my intention was readable and understandable, meanwhile first was just a cute sticker.
