DIZAJN KIOSK is the team project of young graphic designers and students from Academy of fine arts and design (AFAD) in Bratislava. We developed platform where we wanted to communicate with public about graphic design, work of graphic designers and impact of design. First we organised event during popular market Dobrý trh in Bratislava. We got a small grant support for realization from Bratislava town.
After our several meetings and discussions we wrote and specified 27 questions about graphic design which people usually asked us as designers. F.e. What is graphic design? What does graphic designer do? For what is design good? Then everybody designed his or her questions to one card which should present question in attractive way for public. We developed also installation from wood pallets as kind of info point where we present cards. During the day of event we had a presentations, discussions and lectures there as well.
The main aim of project was to confront ourselves with public and test what they know about design. We got experience that the topic in theoretical way is not that attractive and we need to think more about what the people really need and can get from designers. Then how to educate them more naturally. From this point of view the project showed the problem with missing platform for presentation of Slovak graphic design and designers. As well as space where public could find guided information and turn in case they need to contact design.
