First event from the series Critical Window organised by Open Design Network and Open Design Studio. It was launched during the Bratislava Design Week in september 2013.
Typographic animation "Mediapulation" from Katarína Balážiková reflected the manipulative practices of media, irrelevant topics or lack of good content of slovak media. Designers used fictive, absurd headlines to make people that were crossing the street to stop and think. Animation "The Answer" from Hana Hudáková reflects the alibistic attitude of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico giving the same answers on all different questions from the slovak journalists. Juraj Meszároš created "Unresolved" in order to show the inability in solving biggest controverse political cases discussed in media in Slovakia. Veronika Melicherová in her "Populists" is showing tree versions of the truth of one political issue in Slovakia - how it is presented by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, how media are presenting it and what the people really think.
Critical window is original format of short critical visual reflections made by graphic designers and projected onto the street from three windows of the culture and co-work space called Foajé on Štefánikova street in Bratislava. They used to reflect the current critical political or social issues that resonate in Slovakia. Sometimes they are related with the public events organised inside the Foaje showing the personal critical attitude of their authors towards certain topics of these events.

I like this type of platform because it happened in public space. It used easy way how to highlight actual problems and in the same communicate them to public.
